The Region X Health Equity Council has released a Regional Blueprint for Action. This blueprint illustrates trends in regional data on health disparities and the social determinants of health. Among the trends identified:
  • In Region X, one in four households who speak Spanish or an Asian and Pacific Island language face a significant barrier to health care because English is not their first language.
  • Employment opportunities affect health and health care access among racial and ethnic minority communities in RHEC X. The highest unemployment rate in the region is 20.7 among Alaska Natives.
  • Between 15 and 18 percent of people living in the Region X states are food insecure, without consistent access to adequate food due to lack of money and support services.
As a next step, RHEC members are sharing information from the blueprint with decision makers and professionals in Region X to raise awareness about key health issues and issue a call for action among regional partners. Download the Blueprint for Action below.
